Pannonpower
The PANNONPOWER Group plays a regional role in the area of combined heat and electricity generation, heat supply and the production of renewable energy at a power plant scale. In 2004, the group built a biomass-burning power plant block with 50 MW capacity in Pécs, which is one of the biggest one in Central Europe; at present, two blocks using natural gas and one block using renewable energy operate at the Pécs power plant. The power plant blocks have a total electrical capacity of 182.4 MWe (the share of the biomass-burning block is 49.9 MWe), and their installed heat capacity is 313 MWth. At present, almost 60% of the total fuel consumption of the power station is biomass, of which 75% is fuel wood and the remaining 25% is residual wood product.
The company has significant influence in the Pécs district heating company supplying more than 30,000 homes.
In addition to the continuous satisfaction of heat and electricity needs, PANNONPOWER pioneers bioenergy developments, thereby furthering the establishment of large industrial energy plantations and the implementation of biomass-based developments, including the production of green district heat.
